About VegasMommies
After the birth of her son in 2006, Site Administrator Karin Amundsen found herself overwhelmed with being a stay-at-home mother and suffering from post-partum depression. Realizing that social isolation was partially to blame, Karin began attending Mommy and Me at the hospital in which she birthed her son. Karin made several friends in the group but became worried when she discovered that once her son turned one year she would have to leave the group. When she began to look into other local parenting groups, Karin was discouraged to find that they were exclusionary (moms of color, religious, pre-kindergarten age), charged annual fees, or required a minimum level of event participation. During a March 2007 trip with her older sister, Kristin (Moderator for SLOCountyMommies) to visit her twin sister, Kimberly (Site Administrator for NorthMetroplexMommies) after the birth of her second child, Karin learned about The Mommies Network from Kristin. Karin found the idea of a FREE private online forum to chat with new moms of all types, arrange playdates and mommies night out, as well as engaging in charitable activities within the community an ideal group. Thus, VegasMommies was born!

VegasMommies.com was founded on June 19th, 2007 and currently has 204 active members.

About The Mommies Network
The Mommies Network is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents find support and friendship in their local community. Members of our network sites chat online in members-only discussion forums - discussing everything from the best photographers to the worst temper tantrums and all that lies between - and meet-up regularly at member-driven events in their city. Whether it's a late night commiseration on a crying baby (there are 4 am posts to prove it) or a Parent's Night Out at a great new restaurant, our groups provide what their members need, when and how they need it.

Our members work full time, stay home full time, work part time, represent many races, are pregnant for the first time, are adoptive parents, were adopted themselves, recently moved to the area, have lived here all their lives, have twins, are happy with one, are single parents, are searching out schools and have watched their kids graduate. In other words, we are a reflection of moms and dads in the real world.
